The Import Export Wizard allows you to import and export Systems, Links and Subject to and from a range of different file formats. This allows you to share Systems, Links and Subject between different machines and import Systems, Links and Subject from legacy applications.

 

 

 

To Import or Export the Systems, Links and Subjects which make up the DataPA Analytics Engine ...

 

FIRST go into the Configure Data Sources screen.

 

THEN click on 'Import / Export'. this will display the Introduction Screen

Import / Export - Introduction


If you do not wish this screen to be displayed in the future, click on the check box labeled 'Skip this screen in the future'.

To continue and Import or Export data, click on the 'Next >' button and the Import Export Wizard - Select Import or Export Type form will be displayed.

 

Click on the 'Cancel' button at any time if you wish to leave the Import Export Wizard without saving your changes.


Import / Export - Select Import or Export Type


This screen allows you to select the type of import or export you wish to use. As each type of import or export is selected, a description is displayed in the panel on the right.

Once you have selected the appropriate import or export type, press Next to continue.

The available Options are

Import from a DataPA Export File

Import systems, Link and Lookups from a DataPA Export File created from another instance of DataPA.

Click on 'Next>' to Select the File to Import

Import from Results

Import table relations created in Progress Results and stored in a Progress Results query configuration file.

Click on 'Next>' to Select the File to Import

Export to a DataPA Export File

Export Systems and Subjects to a DataPA Export File, this allows you to share Analytics Engine Information with other DataPA users.

Click 'Next>' to Select Data to export.

Import Links from Database

Analyses the structure of your database(s) looking for tables relations and create DataPA links,

Click 'Next>' to Select the System to Import into.



Import / Export - Select Data to Export


If you have opted to export data, this screen allows you to select which systems and subjects you wish to export.

 

A tree-view will display the Systems (and their associated Subjects) that are in your inmydata Configure Data Sources Client Application.  There is a check box against each System and Subject.  Choose which Systems and Subjects to export (or not) by clicking on the relevant check boxes.  When a System is exported, its Links are always exported with it.

 

When you select a System, its Subjects will also be selected.  If you do not wish to export a subject, click on its check box to deselect it.  

 

You can select all subjects (Task ) or deselect all (UnCheckedTask ) by clicking on the appropriate icon.

 

It is also possible to Apply a Filter to the List by typing into the Filter clip696

Note: Applying a Filter will deselect any Subjects that have been selected that are excluded from the filter.

 

You can NOT export a Subject without also exporting the System that it belongs to.

Once you have chosen which Systems and Subjects to export, click on the Next button to continue.


Import / Export - Select File


This screen allows you to select the file you wish to import from or export to. Enter the file name or click on the browse button to browse for the file.

Once you have selected the appropriate import or export type, press Next to continue.



Import / Export - Select System Other Details


If you have opted to import links, or are importing links as part of an Exported File this screen allows you to select which System your links will be applied to. It also allows you to determine whether DataPA should overwrite existing links that match those imported, or ignore the imported links.

 

First, select the system you wish the imported links to be associated with in the combo-box provided.

 

Next select the appropriate option to determine whether or not duplicate links are overwritten.

Once you have selected the appropriate import or export type, press Next to continue



Import / Export - Change Database Name


If you have imported a subject and the import database name does not match the system you can change the database name

 

Select the name of the database in the Import file, then select from the list of databases in the current system.

Once you have matched the appropriate database, press Next to continue.


Import / Export - Select Tables for Default Links


If you have opted to import default links, or are importing links as part of an Exported File this screen allows you to select which tables your links will be automatically created for.

 

Select the tables from the available list so they appear in the selected list

Once you have selected the appropriate tables, press Next to continue to the Finish .




Import / Export - Finished


 

To complete the load process and return to the inmydata Configure Data Sources  screen, click on the 'Finish' button.

 

To quit out of the Import Links Wizard, and return to the inmydata Configure Data Sources screen without saving any of your changes, click on the 'Cancel' button.
