This is the specific detail for buiding a Google Analytics Data Definition (Query) . These steps are displayed if Google Analtics is selected when Adding or Editing a data Definition and called when selecting Next on the Data Definition - Select Type Screen
Data Definition - Google Analytics - Select Account
A Google Analytics Definition/ Query allows you to access Google Analytics Data. This type of query requires you to have a valid google Analytics account.
Please not that the if some time has passed between accessing the account the Query may need to be re-Authenticated.
Enter a valid username ( email) ...

then select the Authenticate Button will open a web page that allows you to validate the Google Analytics Account and allow DataPA OpenAnalytics to access the data.

Once Validated, Select the relevant profile for the query data.
Once you have finished making your selections click on the 'Next >' button to move on to the Query Wizard - Select Columns ( Google Analytics) screen. |
Data Definition - Google Analytics - Select Columns
You have already selected the two Google Analytics profile, the Dimensions and Metrics may contain data columns that you do not wish to be included in your Query. The Query Wizard - Select Columns (Google Analytics Query) screen lets you choose which Columns will be included in your Query, and in what order they will be included. |
SELECTING COLUMNS
The screen displays a List of the columns that are 'Available' for selection, grouped from the Dimensions and Metrics of Google Analytics, and a list of columns that you have already selected. To select a Column, first highlight it by Clicking on it in the Available list, and then click on the '>' button to move it over to the Selected list. You can also do multiple selections by holding the mouse button down and then clicking on the '>>' button or dragging the mouse over the required columns.
You can also use the box immediately above the Column lists to enter part of the Column name that you are wanting to Add/Remove. As you type in this box you will notice that the list of Columns will be filtered based on the what you have typed.

DESELECTING COLUMNS
You can deselect any of the Selected Columns, or change their listing or order in the Selected list. While you can deselect multiple Columns you can only change the order of one column at a time.
First highlight the Column(s) in the Selected list in the same way that you can highlight columns in the Available list. Then click on '<', If you click on '<<' all columns(s) will be de-selected and moved back into the Available list.

CHANGE COLUMN NAME
Since the list of selected columns will be taken from two sources there may be duplicate column names selected, or the names of the columns may need to be changed to be more user friendly. The selected column names can be changed using the 'Change Column Name' button that opens a screen to change the name of the column.
Press OK to confirm the change to the column name. |
Once you have finished making your selections click on the 'Next >' button to move on to the Query Wizard - Sort Criteria ( Google Analytics) screen. |
Data Definition - Google Analytics - Sort CriteriaColumns
In the Query Wizard - Select Columns ( Google Analytics) screen you chose the Columns for which data will be retrieved and displayed by your Query. The Query Wizard - Sort Criteria screen lets you choose the columns by which you wish to sort the data your Query retrieves. The columns you choose to sort the data by, do not have to be column you have selected to display.
As with the Select Column screen, Filtering of the lists and viewing of data are available. |
As with the Select Columns screen, you select Column in the Available list, and then you can change the order of, or deselect the Columns in the Selected list.
The order of your Selected Columns is very important. The records will first be sorted into groups by the column field in the list. Each group of records will then be sorted by the next column selected, and so on.
You can change the sorting order on each of the Columns you have selected. Click on the column in the Selected List, and then click on the 'Ascending' check box. If the check box is checked then the data will assort in ascending order (eg 1 - 10). if the check box is unchecked the data will sort in descending or (eg 10 - 1). |
Once you have defined your Sort Criteria click 'Next >' to move to the next screen, Query Wizard - Date Range (Google Analytics Query).

Data Definition - Google Analytics - Select Columns
Every Google Analytics query requires a date range defined by a start and end date.
This screen allows you to specify values for the start date and end date. or select that they should be prompted for, as required values each time the query is refreshed.

FIXED VALUE
Select from one of the available dates from the drop down list.
If a 'Fixed Date' is selected then use the Calendar drop-down to select the Date.

PROMPT FOR VALUES
If selected, Enter a Label and a Description that will be used when the required date is requested. |
Once you have finished setting the Date Range, click on the 'Next >' button to go to the Data Definition - Publish Settings.
